Architectural Digest does a special feature on Morena House

Morena House, JSW Realty’s residential development on Carmichael Road, was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest India’s March 2025 issue.

Morena House rises quietly amidst one of Mumbai’s most historic neighbourhoods. The area’s winding, tree-lined roads and century-old homes form a  distinctive urban fabric, one that the project seeks  to complement rather than disrupt.

Designed by Serie Architects, Morena House transforms the site of a colonial-era bungalow, once home to the Belgian Consulate, into an intimate collection of 11 residences. The architecture draws from restraint and proportion, with curved balconies, deep overhangs, and openable windows that encourage cross ventilation and soften the building’s presence against the landscape.

A defining feature of the structure is a series of bridge-like corridors that link individual lobbies to the interiors - quiet transitional spaces that frame views of Malabar Hill and the Mahalaxmi Racecourse on one side, and a central courtyard on the other. The form feels deliberate and grounded, contemporary yet in dialogue with its setting.

Inside, the design continues this dialogue through a thoughtful blend of art, material, and craft. The interiors feature works curated from æquō Gallery alongside pieces by other contemporary artists and creators, each chosen to add layers of texture, narrative, and emotion to the space. Together, these elements create a visual and sensory language that reflects both modern sensibilities and timeless craftsmanship.

The feature in Architectural Digest highlights Morena House not merely as a structure, but as an interpretation of how modern architecture can coexist with heritage.

A quiet expression of place, emotion, and design integrity.
