France has honoured Mrs. Sangita Jindal, Chairperson of the JSW Foundation, with the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) — one of its highest distinctions for significant contributions to the fields of art, culture, and literature.
Presented by the Consul General of France in Mumbai, the award recognises Mrs. Jindal’s decades-long commitment to supporting Indian art and craft, her pioneering role in establishing cultural institutions, and her continuous efforts to foster dialogue between India and the global arts community.
Through the JSW Foundation, Mrs. Jindal has championed projects that bridge heritage and contemporary practice, from restoring historic sites and nurturing craft clusters to creating new cultural platforms like the Museum of Solutions, and Hampi Art Labs. Her work reflects a belief that art is not peripheral to progress, but central to shaping identity, imagination, and social change.

Accepting the honour, Mrs. Jindal described the recognition as a celebration of India’s cultural richness and the countless artisans, curators, and creators who continue to define it.
This accolade further strengthens the longstanding relationship between France and India, two nations deeply invested in artistic exchange and cultural innovation. For the JSW Foundation, it is both a moment of pride and renewed purpose to continue creating spaces where creativity thrives, heritage endures, and art remains a shared language of humanity.
