In November 2024, Æquō unveiled The Slabs Collection at its Mumbai gallery, a powerful collaboration between Linde Freya Tangelder of Destroyers/Builders and Jeevaram Suthar’s workshop in Alibag.

Linde’s design language - defined by proportion, stillness, and raw tactility, finds new expression in this series of sculptural furniture pieces.

Working closely with Suthar and his team of artisans, she developed an evolved form of repoussé, the ancient metalworking technique of shaping metal by hand. The result is a collection that feels both elemental and architectural.

Slabs captures the meeting of opposites: strength and softness, weight and precision.

Thick sheets of German silver and brass are hand-formed around carved wooden blocks, the seams held together by exposed brass soldering that reveals the truth of its making. Each piece - whether a table, mirror, or wall cabinet - carries the memory of touch, of process, of transformation.

The collection draws inspiration from Karnataka’s rugged landscapes, where granite rises from the earth in layered formations. This geological rhythm translates into the work’s strong geometry and grounded presence, evoking both permanence and flow.

Beneath the reflective metal lies structure a wooden skeleton that gives each form quiet stability. Together, these elements speak of balance: between craft and concept, tradition and experiment, material and maker.
